Wound Care

Skin is the most commonly injured tissue and its proper repair is important for reestablishment of its barrier function.

Compounded medications for wound care and management can help speed the process of healing, improve the effectiveness of treatments, and even save lives. This is especially true in cases involving people with pre-existing conditions and the elderly. Using a combination of medications that promote healing and improve the cleanliness of the healing process (preventing infection), we can compound medications that make a dramatic impact on one’s recovery from a wide range of wounds, lacerations, and other injuries.

Compounding presents a new set of tools against the challenges and dangers involved with more complicated wounds. We provide effective solutions for those recovering from:

  • skin grafts
  • major surgeries
  • decubitus ulcers
  • diabetic ulcers
  • pressure sores
  • traumatic wounds
  • burns
  • skin irritations
  • odor control

Using medications like topical phenytoin, lidocane, pentoxifylline, misoprostol helps to control pain and inflammation, as well as to increase circulation to the area of the wound.

A formulation can be compounded to contain the proper combination of active ingredients and an appropriate base to treat a specific type of wound.

For example, each time a wound needs to be cleaned there is potential for disruption of new tissue growth. Gels, which are more water soluble than creams or ointments, may be preferable for wound use because a gel can be rinsed from the wound by irrigation.

We also have powerful solutions in our compounding arsenal that help reduce scar tissue. Whether it’s acne scars or those following major surgery, we’re able to produce scar therapy solutions that work with your specific needs. These medications can be used immediately following surgery or injury. We also offer solutions for animals who are injured or undergo surgery.

If you or your loved one have a wound whether from surgery or other trauma, or a keloid scar that bothers you, please call us and see what we can do to help you!
